What is ABA therapy?

ABA therapy is a therapy that stresses on rewarding desirable behavior. It is a method of teaching that breaks the limitation of speech and language.

How do we do it?

When a child does something right, he will be rewarded with something that he likes. From there, the child learns what is expected to be done.

How is it different from normal teaching?

ABA stresses on letting the children know when they do it right with intensive practice. High motivation of learning is also maintained. Complex skills are broken down into small steps to assist children in learning.

Who needs ABA therapy?

ABA therapy is proven to be the most efficient therapy for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder(ASD). It is also a method of teaching that is applicable to all special needs, normal children, as well as adults.

Myth I : ABA therapy is inhumane!

Repeated drills are done because special needs need more practice than normal children. That is the way they learn. As long as your child retain a high motivation of learning, you should not be worried about the drills just because it is not the conventional way of learning.

Myth II : You are creating a robot.

A skill is usually picked up from repeated practice. Hence, the procedure could be deemed robotic. However, a trained therapist with a carefully designed plan should reach an end goal that is natural.
